About the Item

A large and fine pair of French restauration ormolu and patinated bronze four-light candelabra, with Marly Horses, after Guillaume Coustou, circa 1820. Very fine, elegant and chic. This pair can be also turned into lamps. Measures: 30" high x 9.5" wide x 7" deep. Good condition, ready to place. No damages noted. Modeled after the large marble sculptures representing wild horses restrained by grooms, commissioned in 1739 by King Louis XV from the sculptor, Guillaume Coustou, for the Chateau of Marly (a favorite royal retreat). The sculptures were installed at the horse pond in the gardens of the chateau in 1745. The Chateau of Marly was destroyed following the French Revolution, but the statues, considered masterpieces of French sculpture, were spared this fate. On the orders of the painter Davide, the statues were moved to the Place de la Concorde at the bottom of the Champs-Elysees.

Pair of Gilt Bronze Ginkgo Leaf Table Lamps with Shades

Pair of Gilt Bronze Ginkgo Leaf Table Lamps with Shades

Located in Long Island City, NY

An elegant and highly decorative pair of gilt bronze table lamps modeled as gracefully intertwining ginkgo branches with beautifully sculpted fan-shaped leaves. Each lamp is masterfully cast with naturalistic detail, the sweeping bronze stem supporting multiple textured ginkgo leaves rising from a mirrored square platform mounted on a giltwood base. The organic movement of the design creates a striking sculptural silhouette from every angle, making these lamps equally suited for traditional, Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, or contemporary interiors. The lamps retain their custom cream-colored shades, which complement the warm gilt bronze finish while providing a refined and sophisticated presentation. A timeless pair of decorative lamps that beautifully combines nature-inspired design with exceptional craftsmanship. Condition: Very good vintage condition. The gilt bronze retains an attractive warm patina with minor wear consistent with age and use. Shades show light age-related wear and can easily be replaced if a different color or style is desired. Lamps are fully wired and ready for use. Keywords Ginkgo leaf lamps...
