About the Item

Antique Tibetan Tantric Ritual Mirror in Copper and Bronze, 18th/19th Century or Earlier An extraordinary and highly refined Tibetan Tantric ritual mirror, dating to the 18th/19th century or earlier, masterfully executed in copper and bronze. This exceptional object stands apart from other Buddhist mirrors by virtue of its remarkable depth of repoussé work, harmonious composition, and the unusually high survival of its original stone inlays. In decades of firsthand exposure to Himalayan ritual objects, few—if any—examples rival the visual impact and craftsmanship seen here. The circular frame is richly worked with layered Buddhist iconography, floral and auspicious motifs, and intricate textural detailing, all executed with confident handwork and strong sculptural relief. The surface is further enriched with beautifully matched turquoise, coral-colored stones, and other mineral inlays, most of which appear to be original and intact. At the center, the polished mirror surface bears a raised Tantric symbol, reinforcing the object’s ritual and meditative purpose. Condition is outstanding for its age, with a deep, natural patina and no significant losses. Suitable for the most discerning collectors of Tibetan, Himalayan, and Buddhist ritual art.
