About the Item

Rare Official Soviet Globe from 1952 Authentic globe published in 1952 by the Main Geodetic and Cartographic Administration of the USSR (Главное управление геодезии и картографии при Совете Министров СССР). The globe is mounted on its original black Bakelite base with a black metal hinge. Original manufacturer's label is present under the base. The map is entirely in Russian (Cyrillic) and reflects the political geography of the early Cold War, making it a particularly interesting piece for collectors of antique maps, Soviet memorabilia, or vintage decor. Dimensions: Height: 60 cm - Globe diameter: 43 cm (circumference: 136.5 cm) - Weight: 4.05 kg Condition: Very good condition for its age of 74 years, with some marks, stains, and very few missing pieces on the map (see photos). You can read on the presentation title block: Government control of geodesies and maps by the Ministry of Finance СССР (Main Administration of Geodesy and Cartography under the Council of Ministers of the USSR) Москва (Moscow) 1952 g. Scale 1:30,000,000 and see the label under the foot: Ф-ка № 9 ГУТП МП РСФСР Москва, Озерковская наб., дом 4 This translates to: Factory No. 9 of the GUTP (Main Directorate of Commercial Enterprises) of the Ministry of Local Industry of the RSFSR Moscow, Ozerkovskaya Embankment No. 4.
