About the Item

Decorate an entryway or hallway with this finely carved and versatile antique bench. Handcrafted in Spain circa 1880, the bench is built of solid chestnut and features a rectangular seat supported by scrolled ox-yoke legs joined by double forged-iron cross stretchers. The folding backrest, secured with decorative iron hinges, is richly sculpted with Renaissance foliate motifs surrounding a central medallion bearing an interlaced monogram. Both the apron and seat edge are detailed with hand-carved leaf patterns, adding depth and refinement to the overall design. This Renaissance Revival bench is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, showcasing a bleached patinated finish that enhances the warm natural grain of the chestnut. A beautiful and functional accent for a foyer, hallway, or covered loggia. Measures: 58.5" W × 21.25" D × 33.25" H.
