This is a fine Pair of Late 19th-Century French Louis XV Style Gilded Canapés / Marquises Exude palatial grandeur with this magnificent, matching pair of late 19th-century French Louis XV style gilded canapés (frequently referred to as oversized bergères, marquises, or love seats). Crafted during the late Napoleon III era, these exquisite settees encapsulate the romance, opulence, and rigorous craftsmanship of 19th-century French revival furniture, making them a breathtaking addition to any luxury interior. Masterful Rococo Carving & Giltwood Finish Each piece is individually hand-carved from solid beechwood, boasting an elegant, undulating silhouette true to the Rococo revival aesthetic. The sweeping, camelback crest rails are crowned with intricately carved floral bouquets and acanthus leaf clusters, which flow seamlessly into padded, open armrests (accotoirs).
