About the Item

A handsome long bench constructed from dark-stained wood and fitted with a pale, handwoven rush or natural-fibre seat. The elongated rectangular form is supported by distinctive bobbin-turned legs, joined by substantial block-form joints and a low stretcher framework. Rounded feet and the contrast between the dark timber and softly toned woven seat give the piece a strong decorative presence while retaining a practical, understated character. Its generous length makes it particularly suitable for use at the foot of a bed, in an entrance hall, beneath a window, or as occasional seating in a dressing room, study or living space. The timber retains an attractive aged surface with visible patina, minor marks and colour variation. The woven seat also displays natural variation and wear consistent with age and use.
