About the Item

This account is made up of five companies, I specialize in selecting carefully selected items, specializing in Japanese antiques. Based on my 20 years of experience, I offer a unique perspective on Japanese antiques. This is a very old Japanese large Tansu. The furniture is from the Meiji period (1860s-1900s). The material is cedar wood. The design is ultimately simple and lean. It is characterized by a uniquely Japanese rusticity. We can sense the aesthetic sense of the repairer in the way the details have been repaired. For the repair of the top surface, a rusted iron plate was purposely chosen, which shows a good sense of taste. It has been carefully and meticulously maintained so as not to detract from its timeworn atmosphere. The doors open and close smoothly. All have been washed and sanitized. You can use it with peace of mind. The spirit of "Wabi-sabi," which finds beauty in imperfection and impermanence, can be felt. The opposite of vulgarity, it is understated, modest, and unconventional beauty. This is a unique and very rare object. It weighs approximately 40 kg. Since ancient times, people have created and passed down necessary tools from familiar materials and nurtured a lifestyle culture in order to survive in the severe struggle against nature. By using these objects over a long period of time, they accumulate a flavor and reflect a way of life. The more severe the natural environment and the weaker we are, the stronger their power becomes. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly re-creating the things around us by modifying them opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we collect beautiful, powerful, and unique carefully selected antiquities from Japan.
