About the Item

A striking William & Mary Revival cabinet on a stand that blends English Jacobean craftsmanship with Spanish-inspired decorative detailing. Crafted in the 1920s–1930s, this finely constructed cabinet showcases the rich materials and architectural styling that defined the Walnut Revival period, making it an ideal statement piece for both traditional and collected interiors. The cabinet is beautifully veneered in highly figured walnut burl arranged in book-matched panels across the doors and sides, creating exceptional depth and movement. Decades of natural aging have produced an authentic network of fine veneer checking, enhancing the surface with the patina and character that collectors value. A molded rope-twist cornice crowns the cabinet, while carved fish-scale detailing, acanthus leaf motifs, and raised oval medallions add sculptural interest throughout. Ornate pierced brass strap hinges, corner mounts, and a decorative escutcheon provide a dramatic contrast against the warm walnut tones, reflecting the influence of Spanish vargueño cabinets. The cabinet is raised on a classic William & Mary-style stand with barley-twist legs joined by a carved scrolling stretcher, lending both visual balance and architectural presence. The interior offers practical storage with an adjustable shelf, combining period-inspired design with everyday functionality. Whether used as a bar cabinet, media cabinet, or storage piece in a library, study, or living room, it brings timeless craftsmanship and Old World character to a wide range of interiors. Condition: Excellent vintage condition with a beautifully preserved walnut burl veneer, authentic age-related craquelure, and a warm, richly developed patina. The brass hardware retains its original character, and the cabinet remains structurally sound with minor wear consistent with age and use.
