About the Item

Impressionist artist who was noted for New York scenes. This is an oil on canvas depicting downtrodden figures, refugees, according to the title, in various poses in front of the Brooklyn tenement buildings. Presented in a black wooden frame. Titled "The Refugees" on verso. Location on verso appears to be 224 E. 24th St., Brooklyn, N.Y. Signed on verso. Dimensions: Stretcher/canvas - 27" x 21" Frame - 35 1/8" W x 29 1/8" H x 1 1/2" D Condition: Please see detail photos. Various signs of age include one tiny puncture more visible on verso than on front on the building as shown in photos along with wear to the frame which does not detract from the powerful presentation.
