Carved wood lion mask mount. English, 18th century. Measurements: Height 22.0 cm (8.7 in). A small, single-block wood carving of a lion’s head, probably made as a furniture mount. The face is simply modelled with rounded brows, a pronounced muzzle and a flowing, stylised mane; the mouth is slightly parted.
