Original 1898 lithography entitled "Le Concert" by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

Original 1898 lithography entitled "Le Concert" by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

By Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

Located in PARIS, FR

The original 1898 lithography entitled "Le Concert" by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec is a work of great artistic finesse, capturing both the artist's distinctive style and the elegant scene of society at the time. This lithograph features a well-dressed, wealthy couple in a red theater box. The gentleman is Gabriel Tapié de Céleyran and the lady is Émilienne d'Alençon. The woman is dressed in fur and wears an elaborate black hat, exuding undeniable elegance and sophistication. Lautrec meticulously captures the details of their clothing and expressions, creating a striking depiction of 19th-century high society. This lithograph was commissioned from Toulouse-Lautrec by Ault and Wiborg, American manufacturers of lithographic ink. It was part of a limited edition printed in Paris, with the original zinc plates subsequently shipped to America for printing in the main edition. The four original zinc plates are now housed at the Art Institute of Chicago. This work is all the more remarkable as it is believed to be the only lithograph Lautrec...

Lampedusa (framed) - large scale photograph of Mediterranean summer beach scene

By Massimo Vitali

Located in San Francisco, CA

Large format photograph of a summer beach scene on the Mediterranean island of Lampedusa, from an earlier body of works (2012) by iconic Italian photographer Massimo Vitali, renowned for his grand scale topographical observations of the rites and rituals of modern leisure Lampedusa (2012) 61.25” x 81.7” / 156 cm x 207,5 cm limited edition of 6 + 2AP (signed, titled and dated on certificate of authenticity) last available edition: AP1 original archival photography print with diasec (acrylic glass) face mount in contemporary white lacquered gallery frame Each limited edition original Massimo Vitali photograph is printed in Italy under artist supervision in strictly limited edition (6 + 2AP) , signed/titled/dated upon final inspection and expertly framed at renowned European art framing facility Disclaimer of authenticity: although it is possible to acquire (small size) single page offset prints from the book "A Portfolio of Landscapes and Figures" (published by Steidl) in the secondary market, the artist studio strongly dissuades collectors from purchasing these single page prints outside of the context and authenticity of the complete portfolio. About the artist: Massimo Vitali was born in Como, Italy, in 1944. He studied photography at the London College of Printing, in the 1970s initially working as a photojournalist, but at the beginning of the 80s a growing mistrust in the belief that photography had an absolute capacity to reproduce the subtleties of reality led to a change in his career path. Vitali worked in cinematography for film and television before beginning a fine art practice in 1995. Over the next two decades, he would gain recognition for his highly detailed, epic-scale panoramas — sociopolitical observations of the natural habitat of humankind at leisure. Vitali’s iconic series of beach panoramas, captured from a distance with an elevated large-format camera platform, began in the light of drastic political changes in Italy. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance and Old Flemish masters, in which the central space is fully exploited and the urban or natural landscape becomes the background, Vitali’s photographs grasp the viewer by capturing highly detailed observances of the recreational habitats of modern civilization. Vitali’s work has been collected in six monographs: Beach and Disco, Natural Habitats, Landscapes With Figures, Swimming Pools, Short Stories and Entering A New World. Additionally, his work is represented in the world’s major museums, including the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, the Fond National Art Contemporaine in Paris, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Musée National d’Art Moderne in Paris, the Fondation Cartier in Paris and the Museo Luigi Pecci in Prato. Massimo Vitali lives and works in Lucca (Italy) and in Berlin (Germany). __________________________ SOLO EXHIBITIONS 2025 94/22 Zander Galerie, Cologne 2024 Photolux Festival - Il bel paese? Picasso 1957 exhibition poster Pâtes Blanches: Empreintes Originales
Picasso 1957 exhibition poster Pâtes Blanches: Empreintes Originales

Picasso 1957 exhibition poster Pâtes Blanches: Empreintes Originales

By Pablo Picasso

Located in PARIS, FR

The 1957 original exhibition poster titled Pâtes Blanches: Empreintes Originales éditées par Madoura et Gravures Rares by Pablo Picasso is a significant piece that reflects the artist's deep involvement with ceramic art and printmaking during that period. The poster was created to promote an exhibition at Galerie 65 in Cannes, France, showcasing Picasso’s ceramics and rare engravings, with a particular focus on his work with pâtes blanches, or white clay. By the late 1940s, Picasso had become increasingly involved with ceramics, producing a vast number of pieces at the Madoura pottery studio in Vallauris, France. The studio, owned by Georges and Suzanne Ramié, became a creative haven for Picasso, where he could explore new forms of expression beyond painting and sculpture. His work with ceramics brought forth a unique blend of classical forms and modernist abstraction, often infusing traditional pottery with his distinctive artistic style. The term pâtes blanches refers to the white earthenware clay that Picasso used for creating his ceramic pieces. This material allowed him to experiment with various textures and finishes, which he combined with his characteristic line work and engraving techniques. The poster advertises this innovative work, highlighting the original prints and rare engravings that were part of the exhibition. The exhibition at Galerie 65 in Cannes ran throughout the summer of 1957 and offered art lovers and collectors the opportunity to view and acquire some of Picasso's rarest ceramic works and prints. It was a testament to Picasso's versatility as an artist, showcasing his ability to transcend different mediums while maintaining the boldness and originality that defined his career. The poster itself, with Picasso's handwritten details and a depiction of one of his engravings, serves as both a promotional tool and a work of art in its own right. It reflects Picasso's personal touch and his deep connection to the work he produced during this period. Today, this exhibition poster remains a coveted item for collectors of Picasso’s works and 20th-century art, representing a unique moment in Picasso's extensive and varied artistic journey. Important series of eight colorful Japanese woodblock prints featuring iconic scenes of Japanese life. They are the work of great artists including: Mizuno Toshikata (1866-1908) Utagawa Toyokuni (Japanese: ?; 1769 in Edo – 24 February 1825 in Edo) This series of woodblock prints, never before on the market, comes from a private collection. He was the second head of the renowned Utagawa school of Japanese woodblock artists, and was the artist who elevated it to the position of great fame and power it occupied for the rest of the nineteenth century. He was born, the son of Kurahashi Gorobei, a carver of dolls and puppets...
