About the Item

Antique Japanese Hand-woven flat basket - or tray, made of Bamboo, lacquered with traditional Urushi in deep reddish brown. Using the traditional Ajiro weaving technique, which gives the piece strength and an iconic beauty. There's a hanging cord, and the colors on the bottom side have deepened into black with age, more than the inside of the tray. Based on this, it seems that this piece was used as a Kakemono (wall décor) with the bottom side facing up, in a tea ceremony room or a place for Kado (traditional flower arrangement). There's a taste of authentic wabi sabi in this piece. Actual item weight : 1.76 lbs (0.8kg) Dear customer - feel free to inquire me for the shipping fee quote.
